The Platform Group at the 99th Founders’ Breakfast Wiesbaden

On 14th December 2022, a special Get2Gether took place in Wiesbaden: The 99th Startup Breakfast was organised by the Startup Hub Heimathafen.

Dr Dominik Benner, CEO of The Platform Group, gave a guest lecture on the origins of the Platform Group and its challenges for the future.

“eCommerce is only just beginning in many sectors – this is where we will grow more strongly in the future and occupy new sectors,” Benner said during his presentation. When asked how to grow profitably in the future, the founder clarifies that “pure players have a difficult time, as they are often not profitable. Platform models are usually superior, have more reach and are more scalable.” The founder explained to the audience how he entered more than 16 industries from the platform Schuhe24, which was created in 2013, and what role company acquisitions have played in the process. Representatives of the IHK and Hessen Trade & Invest were also present.

The host, Heimathafen Wiesbaden, will move to the new buildings in the “Old Court” in March 2023. The aim is to be a hub location for start-ups and foundations that is known throughout Germany. As a Wiesbaden-based company, The Platform Group is happy to be a partner here and actively supports this initiative.
